Menopause: A Rehabilitation Approach

This is a two day course designed to give the pelvic floor practitioner an understanding of the impact of menopause on a woman’s health and quality of life, and an insight into the important role we play as members of multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

Myofascial Release for Pelvic Dysfunction

Material will be presented that includes the science of and evidence behind myofascial release, relevant anatomical structures, clinical reasoning and an extensive number of treatment techniques. Lab activities focus on both exernal (surface) and internal vaginal or rectal techniques, and include assessment of connective tissue mobility with an emphasis on trigger points, asymmetry and tissue tension abnormalities affecting the joints of the pelvis and lower extremity and their associated fascial structures. Instructed techniques will include direct and indirect treatment options to address a variety of myofascial dysfunction. The great variety of skills presented in this course will allow the therapist to design an appropriate manual therapy approach for each patient presentation.

Geriatric Pelvic Floor Rehab

The continuing education course is targeted to the pelvic rehab therapist seeking specific techniques and adapations of pelvic rehabilitation skills for the older patient. Covering a system-based review of the normal aging process, this course will integrate issues created by co-morbidlites and the effects on the pelvic floor. The Geriatric Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation course will also cover co-morbidities of aging including cardiorespiratory illness, osteoporosis, gastroesophageal reflux disease, spinal stenosis, incontinence and balance, hip dysfunction, dyspareunia and prostate cancer
