Full-Time Days

The professional we select for this vital role will assess patients and review/interpret medical evaluations and test results, determine physical therapy treatment plans, and select and administer manual exercises using appropriate assistive/supportive devices. This individual will encourage and assist patients in performing therapeutic physical activities, and provide patients, families, and caregivers with education and instruction regarding home exercise programs. Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Directing and monitoring treatment given by paraprofessionals and support personnel, and providing follow-up clinical direction.
  • Evaluating the effects of physical therapy, observing and noting patient response and progress, and recommending adjustments and modifications.
  • Completing discharge planning in collaboration with the healthcare team and assuring continuation of therapeutic treatment by participating in home care planning and recommending outpatient or home health follow-up programs.
  • Participating in interdisciplinary rounds.
  • Participating in an ongoing mentorship program and serving as preceptor as needed.
  • Assisting in the monitoring of quality assurance indicators.

Required Credentials:

  • Current physical therapy licensure for the state of Illinois.
  • Current Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification.
  • Master's of science or doctorate degree in physical therapy, if graduated after 2002.
  • Bachelor's of science degree in physical therapy, if graduated before 2002.
  • Completion of Level 1 Pelvic course through APTA or Herman & Wallace prior to hire.
  • Some experience in a related role.

Preferred Credentials:

  • Two or more years of experience in pelvic floor physical therapy.
