Yoga

One of the six orthodox schools of Hindu philosophy, yoga was originally performed to become united with the Gods. Today, hatha yoga is practiced as a form of exercise that engages both mental and physical discipline. During yoga, individuals are asked to hold difficult balance, flexibility, or strength positions while focusing on breathing and calmness of mind. This not only promotes physical health but also mental wellbeing, as it teaches the individual to find peace amidst physical pain. As this practice grows in Western culture, scientific evidence continues to reveal that yoga is a healthy form of exercise and can be used to treat a variety of physical ailments, ranging from pain management to heart disease.
