Coccydynia

Coccydynia is a term defined as pain of the coccyx or in the coccyx region. It generally begins when one's coccyx is abnormally mobile or unstable, leading to chronic inflammation, and eventually, further degeneration of this structure. Treatment for coccydynia includes massage, decreased sitting time, sitting with a cushion, stretching, manipulation, and postural adjustments. If pain persists or the condition worsens despite treatment, surgical intervention is recommended.
