Anorectal Manometry

Anorectal manometry is a diagnostic technique used to assess contractility of the anus and rectum by using a balloon to distend the rectum and a pressure sensor to measure the rectosphincteric reflex, or lack thereof. It is used to assess disorders such as Hirschsprung’s disease, fecal incontinence, and chronic constipation.
