Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  1. Define mindfulness, and attitudes of mindful awareness
  2. Define stress and describe the neurophysiological changes that result from stress.
  3. Evaluate evidence for the use of mindfulness to address stress, pain, and burnout
  4. Experience various mindfulness practices, and practice explaining and guiding them in plain English
  5. Define compassion and its role in healthcare
  6. Define meditation and list “the 5 essentials” of meditation practice
  7. Develop a mindfulness-based self-care plan including a daily practice as well as “on-the-spot” strategies to maintain calm during challenging moments and to savor life’s pleasant moments.
  8. Describe precautions for teaching mindfulness practices to your patient
  9. Demonstrate understanding on best documentation and billing practices for mindfulness-based interventions
