What is a Self-Hosted Satellite?

In some circumstances, a private group of clinicians is invited to join a satellite lab course without attending at a publicly available, Herman & Wallace sponsored Satellite Lab location. This option is especially well-suited for groups who don't have the space or equipment necessary to host a full-sized satellite lab group, or who want to only have clinicians who they specifically invite be able to attend.

In order to attend a course as a private self-hosted group, your group must meet the following criteria:

- All attendees are licensed clinicians - no current PT/DPT students are allowed in self-hosted groups.

- Your group has sufficient space, treatment tables, and lab supplies to partake in the labs taught in this course (the required equipment can vary depending on the course).

- Your group has registered using the Self-Hosted option for the course which you are interested in attending.

- If participating in Pelvic Floor Level 1, your group must have secured a volunteer lab assistant. If your group is larger than 10, we recommend having at least two lab assistants. These TAs are not coordinated or compensated by Herman & Wallace.

Please note that we have made the decision that all groups self-hosting in Pelvic Floor Level 1 must have a volunteer TA who meets the eligibility criteria for our TA program. This is because we want to guarantee that every person who takes our introductory course has been taught, under the supervision of a Herman & Wallace vetted lab assistant, the essential examination and treatment techniques which will be relied upon so heavily in any pelvic rehab practice.

Please keep in mind that the above criteria are designed to make sure that you have the best learning experience possible, and are well-equipped for patient care immediately after finishing our course. If you are unable to meet the above criteria, please join us at a publicly available satellite lab group - dates and locations are posted on our main continuing education page. If you would like to host a public satellite group, please review the eligibility criteria and submit the interest form on our Host a Course page.
